Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
Now that the fog (or maybe smoke from my camera) has cleared from the Holiday photography season I can finally get back to blogging. It has been a while to say the least. I won’t tell you exactly how long ago my session with the Fairman family was but as you can see, we still had changing leaves in the trees. Forever ago. I know. Anywho, the Fairmans. An awesome family! Christina, Hank and little Ellie were so fun to shoot. It had been raining the entire weekend of our session. We managed to get about an hour break in the rain. We spent the first 45 minutes or so dry and the last 20 in a light drizzle. Ellie was in heaven splashing and jumping in the puddles. A perfect session.
Amber is one of my longest friends. We met on her first day of school in the fourth grade. Over the past 20-something years we have had more sleepovers, laughs, tears and softball tournaments than I can count. Amber and I did soooo many things together that probably weren’t a great idea. Luckily, we can out the other side with minimal wear and tear. (An act of God, for sure!) Now that we are in our 30’s, I am happy to say that we make much better choices. Amber and Scott are high school sweethearts. They have been together for a bagillion years. It is great to see my friend in such a happy and loving marriage. Together they have 2 little ones, Liam (adorable and a complete ham in front of the camera) and Adelaide (maybe the cutest baby ever born). PS. the light on the day of our session was perfect and made for some of my favorite session photos to date. Enjoy!
A few months ago I had the pleasure of shooting a maternity session with a very pregnant Sirena. Her and her husband, Tarek, were patiently awaiting the arrival of their little baby Enzo. A couple of weeks after our session Sirena gave birth to a healthy baby Enzo. He is a sweet, happy little baby and the joy of his parents life. Meet Enzo and proud parents Tarek and Sirena.
This is my favorite age. 6-9 month olds are so happy. Constantly smiling, laughing and learning. Calder is such a sweet boy and I was so happy to have the chance to take his picture again.
The last time I saw the Menkiti family they were awaiting the arrival of the newest Menkiti boy. I love photographing newborns…love.it. Their little cries and sounds and the way they smell. (During a newborn session is the only time it is appropriate to smell a client.) Meet sweet baby Clayton.
Today I met John, Susan and LJ (aka Little John aka Peanut). LJ, a 5 year old superhero, will be going to Children’s tomorrow morning to have a tumor removed from his brain…this will not be his first brain surgery. I could literally feel the love and pain radiating from Susan during our session this afternoon. Watching her memorize his face and mannerisms with tears in her eyes was more than I could handle. It was very powerful and very moving. Luckily she had tissues on hand for me too. They reminded me to love my kids a little harder. Good luck tomorrow sweet boy.
Being a photographer has a lot of perks. Discovering the city and meeting awesome new families are 2 of my favorite perks. Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the Menkiti family. A really great, loving family with 2 little boys and a 3rd on the way in a couple months. Meet the Menkiti’s
